Sending 110 tons of humanitarian aid to victims of the earthquake in Turkey

A large humanitarian mission consisting of 50 vehicles from the Region of Attica and EDSNA left the Peace and Friendship Stadium for Raidesto.

The humanitarian aid intended to meet the needs of the earthquake victims in Turkey exceeds 110 tons and includes more than 20,000 blankets, 7.5 tons of medicines, 5 tons of medical equipment, baby diapers, personal hygiene items, etc.

This is an initiative of the Regional Governor of Attica, Giorgos Patoulis, in cooperation with the Municipalities of Attica (KEDE-PEDA), Together We Can and ISA.

The mission is expected to cross the Greek-Turkish border on Monday morning and head to the material collection warehouses in Raidesto (Tekirdag).

“Today, a large humanitarian aid started here from the Peace and Friendship Stadium. Humanitarian aid, which is the result of the love and solidarity of our fellow citizens.

Leaders of the region, municipalities, KEDE, PEDA and Together We Can, with the participation of volunteers, contributed to this first big mission with 50 cars of the region and EDSNA promoting the first big piece of concentrated humanitarian aid. where our brethren need it.

When there is a need, there are no boundaries. Solidarity and humanity have no boundaries. At this moment, the Turkish people are suffering, and we are on their side with all our might.

To date, more than 110 tons of essential items, 20,000 blankets, 7.5 tons of medicines, 5 tons of sanitary and hygiene materials and essential items for children are being shipped. We practically express our solidarity and our love to the people of Turkey, to whom we will continue to provide every support.”

For his part, the Turkish Ambassador to Athens Chagatay Ersies, said: “In Turkey we have a saying: “A friend in need is visible”, and from the first moment the Greek people showed us their solidarity. We are sincerely grateful. We thank the Greek people for their help. Help collected by the region, municipalities and volunteer groups. I sincerely thank everyone who participated in this effort, mayors, municipal councilors, local authorities and the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I also thank every other ministry that has taken part in this valuable work. These are difficult times for Turkey and we are indeed receiving help that we will never forget, and of course I would like to thank everyone for their help and reiterate that we are grateful to everyone.”
