Northern Ireland star Liam Neeson is asked in almost every interview if he would ever play the role of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in a spin-off of the Star Wars franchise.

His answer is often negative, as it happened in the issue of the program “Watch what is happening live!” for February 16. presented by Andy Cohen, in which Liam Neeson and actor Paul Rudd were invited.

But this time around, Liam Neeson explained that he didn’t want to reprise his role as Qui-Gon Jinn in that the Star Wars franchise sabotaged its own magic.

“No, I won’t,” said the Northern Irish actor when asked if he would return to the franchise. “There are too many spin-offs inspired by Star Wars. In my opinion, they dilute them, in a strange way they take away their mystery and magic.”

Liam Neeson had a brief appearance in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, in which he only spoke two lines. The Northern Irish star made his debut in the Star Wars franchise when he starred in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, but his character died and his presence in the film series came to an abrupt end. Last year, Liam Neeson told ComicBook.com that he might play Qui-Gon Jinn again, but with one condition: It would have to be a movie for the big screen, not a TV series.

Several spin-off productions were launched. LucasFilm has already released two movies, Rogue One and Solo, on the big screen, outside of its main story, which is dedicated to the character of Luke Skywalker.

The franchise has also expanded significantly on the Disney+ streaming platform with several series, including The Mandalorian, The Boba Fett Book, and Obi-Wan Kenobi already streaming. Among the upcoming Star Wars-inspired series are productions of Ashoka and The Apprentice, as well as the third season of The Mandalorian, which will be released on March 1.
