Study: Foods That Help ‘Fight’ Alzheimer’s

Foods rich in selenium improve the condition of patients Alzheimer’s diseaseaccording to data recently presented by Chinese researchers.

A new study shows that selenium-rich ingredients can prevent inflammation and oxidative stress.

A joint research team with researchers from the Institute of Microbiology of the Guangdong Academy of Sciences and other institutions proposes a potential interventional mechanism for selenium-rich ingredients to improve the condition of Alzheimer’s patients.

Such elements are present in many plants and microorganisms such as cruciferous vegetables, yeasts and fungi.

The study also showed that enzymatic hydrolysis and physical processing (eg, heating, high pressure and microwave processing) are the main methods of modifying the properties of dietary selenium.

The results of the study were published in the journal Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition.
