The draft decision, initiated by two local councilors of USR, envisages the cancellation of the title of Honorary Citizen, granted to Sebastian Gice in 2005, when he was known as the financier of the basketball team Asesoft Ploieşti, a team that at that time was in the top profile clubs not only of the national but also European level.

An approval report attached to the project shows that at that time Gitsa did not meet any of the criteria that are the basis for the award of this title. In addition, the document shows that “from the date of granting the title until December 2022, Mr. Gitsa Aurelian Sebastian has accumulated all the attributes that contradict the criteria and values ​​that underlie the definition of an honorary citizen of Ploiesti, of which the community of Ploiesti can be proud.”

After a project was included in the agenda of the meeting on January 31, which provides for the removal of this title from the former deputy, who is now a fugitive, the representatives of the Ploiesti City Hall re-submitted the agenda of the meeting, in which this project is no longer present. .

Ploiesti Mayor Andrii Volosevic explained to News.ro that several projects have been removed from the agenda of the meeting at the end of this month and that the project to cancel the title of honorary citizen in the Gice case will enter the debate of local elected officials “at the next opportunity.”
