Air-raid warning sirens began sounding Wednesday night across much of central and eastern Ukraine as officials warned residents to take cover against a possible Russian attack, CNN reported, according to News.ro.
“Threat of a missile attack,” the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, Mykola Lukashuk, reported in Telegram. “Stay in safe places until the alarm is over. The threat has not passed,” the official said.
Lukashuk, on the other hand, urged not to report on the locations of possible missile interceptions by Ukrainian air defense. “Don’t help the enemy,” he said. “Wait for official information,” the official added.
There were also official warnings about possible Russian attacks in the south of Mykolaiv region. “It was said that three groups of mopeds (Shahed shock drones) have already flown out,” Mykolayiv Oblast Governor Vitaly Kim reported on Telegram. “Petty crooks didn’t come up with anything better for the best president’s birthday,” he adds, meaning that President Volodymyr Zelensky turned 45 on Wednesday.
In the northeast of the Kharkiv region, a military administrator warned residents to stay in shelters: “There is a threat of rocket fire. Do not ignore the alarm signals.”
And in the central Kirovohrad region, the military administrator reported on Telegram: “The high level of missile threat remains.”
