More qualifying groups for the World and European Championships

UEFA’s executive committee decided to change the qualifying stage of the World Cup after increasing the number of teams in the final tournament from 32 to 48.

Thus, there will be 12 groups of four or five teams, from which the first-placed teams will emerge, as well as another four second-placed teams, which will be determined after the playoffs, writes Marca.

The same format will be applied to the 2028 European Championship qualifiers.

Changes for the League of Nations
