The famous director and husband of Nora Walsami Erricos Andreu has died at the age of 84. Since August, he has been admitted to an Athens hospital with serious health problems. The news of his death was announced by the president of the Association of Greek Actors, Spyros Bibilas, in a Facebook post.

Errikos Andreou was born in Athens on December 15, 1938 and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. There he studied art history and English literature at an English-speaking university and continued his studies in screenwriting and directing at the Great Film Academy in Rome.

Upon his return to Greece, he worked as an assistant director on international productions such as The Guns of Navarone and The Lion of Sparta. In 1961, he made his first film, The Nightmare, written and directed by himself, which won awards at the New Delhi Film Festival and Thessaloniki Film Festival. In 1964, he directed the film The Return, which won first prize for a female role at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, and in 1966, the film Dichasmos, which received a state award for directing, as well as international recognition at the Thessaloniki Film Festival. In 1967 he collaborated with Finos Film on He and She. He then made other films, working with American and Italian producers.
