PNL spokesman Jonuts Stroe said on Prima News TV’s Talk News show on Tuesday about Nicolae Chuke, the PNL’s presidential candidate, that he is likely to be the candidate because the PNL leader fits the profile the party is looking for: “and a strong leader, a leader who will unite, not divide, support a morally educated person, an educated person and a figure who must rise above the left, the right, the center.”

“PNL will support a strong leader for the post of president, a leader who will unite and not divide, it will support a morally educated person, an educated person. From our point of view, he should be a figure who should rise above the left, the right, the center, he should be a person for all Romanians,” Ionuc Stroe said about the portrait of the NLP candidate in the presidential elections, according to News.ro

When asked if it would be Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke, Ionuc Stroe replied: “Yes, very likely, he fits the described profile.”

He noted that no decision has yet been made on how they will nominate their presidential candidate.

Regarding the PSD-PNL joint candidacy, Stroe noted that the liberals have always run alone. “We have always built candidacies, there is no question of joint candidacies at the moment,” he said, noting that the protocol on cooperation with the PSD concerns only management.
