Sir Jim Ratcliffe bid for Manchester United

The American owners in November 2022 announced plans to sell the club 17 years after the takeover, hoping to get about 5 billion pounds, writes the Daily Mail.

The Glazers have been waiting for offers since February, with offers expected to come from the US, the Middle East and Asia.

United are not the only Premier League club Ratcliffe has tried to buy, the billionaire was also interested in Chelsea last year before Roman Abramovich sold the London club to Todd Boley for £2.5bn.

Ineos also owns the French club Nice, but according to UEFA rules, teams with the same owner cannot play together in European competitions.

In 2020, Jim Ratchliff was the 2nd richest Briton with a net worth of £23 billion.
