The incident occurred on December 15, 2022, TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein told CNN Travel in an email.

In the following Instagram post, the TSA wrote:

“Our officers… it wasn’t very funny (hissssssterically)! A 1.2-meter-long boa constrictor was rolled up in the passenger’s hand luggage.”

The woman (with hand luggage) was able to take the plane, but without the snake.

Boa snakes are non-venomous and kill their prey by coiling around it.

A cat was found in a carry-on bag at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on Thanksgiving Day.
