Two years after the pandemic, theaters around the world are slowly starting to fill up, and this is encouraging owners and the film industry as a whole. 2023 will be full of highly anticipated films, and most of them are from major directors.

From “The Whale” and “Barbie” to “John Wick 4” and “Dune”, below we’ve rounded up some of the films that are expected to completely revive cinemas and make them the talk of the day.

Darren Aronofsky is back with his new film The Whale, an adaptation of the play by Samuel D. Hunter. Starring Brendan Fraser. He plays Charlie, a reclusive English teacher who suffers from severe obesity and tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter in a last ditch effort to come to terms with his family and everything that happened in the past.

The long-awaited film is based on transformation and transcendence, an odyssey in and out of the body, grief and salvation.

Guy Ritchie guides Jason Statham and Hugh Grant on an adventure in which super spy Orson Fortune (Statham) must track down and stop millionaire broker Greg Symonds (Grant) from selling deadly new technology. He will then team up with some of the best secret agents and enlist the help of a Hollywood star to save the world.

Tom Hanks plays Otto Anderson, a grumpy middle-aged man recently widowed. His world will change when a new living family moves into the house across the street. Soon his daily life will improve. A touching yet funny film based on Fredrik Backman’s bestselling book A Man Called Uwe and Hans Holm’s Mister Ove.

A scientist develops an android robot to keep his orphaned and traumatized niece company. “M3GAN” proves to be the perfect friend and answers his creator’s commands. But soon the robot begins to take the protection of the girl very seriously … and fiercely.

Damien Chazelle returns with Babylon, a period film with comedic and dramatic elements and a cast of Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Diego Calva, Jean Smart and more. The story follows the rise and fall of several characters during Hollywood’s transition from silent to complex films in the late 1920s.

M. Night Shyamalan is directing Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Dave Bautista, Rupert Grind, Abby Quinn and Nikki Amuka-Bird in Knock on the Shack. The girl goes with her gay fathers to the forest and they stay in the cabin. But their vacation will soon turn into a nightmare. The kidnappers break into the house and try to convince them to make devastating choices in order to prevent the apocalypse.

Channing Tatum returns to the role of Mike for the last time. He will meet a rich woman who will offer him a performance in London. Therefore, Mike will do his best to take his work to the next level.

Directed by Rom Marshall, the remake of the 1989 animated classic features an impressive cast. Based on the book of the same name by David Grann, Martin Scorsese’s The Flower Moon Killers takes us to 1920 Oklahoma and its transformation into one of the wealthiest parts of the United States thanks to the oil fields in the land. In the same period, members of the Osage tribe begin to be killed, and the FBI begins an investigation to solve the case. With Robert De Niro, Brendan Fraser, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons, John Lithgow and more.

Michael Mann will direct Ferrari, a film about former racing driver Enzo Ferrari, played by Adam Driver. His tumultuous marriage to Laura Ferrari (Penelope Cruz) forces him to bet everything on the last race. The cast is completed by Shailene Woodley, Patrick Dempsey, Jack O’Connell, Gabrielle Leone and Sarah Gadon.

Sofia Coppola brings Priscilla Presley’s Elvis and Me to the big screen, starring Caylee Spani (Priscilla) and Jacob Elordi (Elvis Presley).
