
Iryna Begu reached the second round of the WTA tournament in Adelaide on Monday, our athlete beat Shelby Rogers.
Iryna, currently ranked 34th in the world, lost the first set to the American (previously ranked 30th in the WTA rankings in August this year) with a score of 6-3, but made the necessary changes in her game and managed to break the course of the match.
Begu won 7-6(5), 6-1 to advance to the second round in Adelaide.
The match, filled with great struggle, lasted two hours and 38 minutes. Shelby is currently ranked 47th in the WTA rankings.

- In the 1/8 finals, Begu will play the winner of the match, Olena Ostapenko (18 WTA – seven favorites) against Karolina Pliskova (31 WTA).
- For reaching the second round, Iryna will receive $11,145 and 55 WTA points.
