Doctor Dan Grigorescu, head of the plastic and reconstructive surgery department at the Brasov County Emergency Clinical Hospital, issues a new warning on the last day of the year to those who use firecrackers, News.ro notes. “7 years since I invented the noun “feyerard”, annoyed that in the emergency hospital of Brasov, with all possible public warnings, we are tired of putting together puzzles from the hands of unconscious or ignorant self-mutilators on the eve of the New Year,” wrote the doctor, accompanying his message with two extremely violent photographs depicting the consequences of the use of firecrackers.
“Seven years ago, just before every New Year, I ‘preached in the wilderness’ that firecrackers should more or less disappear from the black market now. 7 years ago, when I invented the noun “firecracker”, entering it into the main dictionary of the Romanian language, annoyed that in the emergency hospital in Brasov, with all possible public warnings, we were tired of doing puzzles with hands unconscious or self-ignorant – mutilated on New Year’s Eve Dan Grigorescu wrote on Facebook on Saturday.
The doctor, who is also a university lecturer, also makes a brief portrait of the amateur firecracker user.
“My more than twenty years of work experience in this field allows me to consider “firecracker” a noun exclusively of the masculine gender, and the plural is the most common form in the “Carpathian-Ponto-Danubian” space. I coined this new word in an effort not to come across as a character who lacks empathy for those who, by mocking (through unconsciousness or ignorance) their somatic integrity, may be considered retarded rather than unfortunate. The symbiotic chemistry of the words “firecracker” and “retarded”, closely related to the spirit of the season, led to the birth of this new term. Which I wish to disappear as soon as possible both from the Romanian “linguistic landscape” and from the medical and surgical landscape,” the doctor writes.
He adds that he wishes “that amateur games with firecrackers should be abandoned as soon as possible, leaving them to professionals.”
“And we, doctors, no longer need to be forced to try the impossible, when we know from the very beginning that we are trying in vain! Happy birthday with healthy hands (and face), Romania!” writes Dan Grigorescu.
