Four years have passed since the release of the sequel “Mamma Mia!“with title”Mamma Mia: Here we go again”, and the chances of a third film being released are high.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, director Ol Parker spoke about the possibility of turning the series into a trilogy.
“Judy Kramer, the genius producer of the musical and the first two films, is gearing up for a trilogy. That’s all I can say,” Ol Parker said.
“The first film did very well at the box office and I think we did pretty well too. I know there is a desire to make a third film and I know that Judy Kramer has a plan. Is not that great? he added.
The possibility of a third film was first revealed by the producer in statements to the Daily Mail in 2020: “I wanted to make another film. But then came COVID-19. I know that Universal would like me to do this,” he stressed.
But, in addition to the producer, the main characters also expressed interest in returning in the third film. In a recent interview with ET, Christine Baranski talked about the continuation of the story, among other things.
“If we could go back and have as much fun together on a Greek island as we did on the first movie, and have dinner together at night in some great trattoria or tavern, I think no one would mind,” he said.
