The embarrassment suffered by Hansi Flick’s team forced national team coach Oliver Bierhoff to resign, with him under contract until the summer of 2024.

“Oliver Birkhoff and the DFB have agreed today (Monday) to terminate his contract, which runs until 2024.” – said the statement of the German Football Association.

In the same statement, the federation also added Oliver Bierhoff’s notice of dismissal from the position of head coach of the German national football team.

“Football is a part of my life and will accompany me. It was an honor for me to have the opportunity to work for German football for so long. In this way, I clear the way to new directions.”

Oliver Bierhoff has been part of the Germany staff since 2004 in various capacities, working alongside Jurgen Klinsmann (2004-2006), Joachim Loew (2006-2021) and Hansi Flick (2021-2022).
