Six Kangal dogs were found dead at a kennel in Arad County, while two more allegedly went missing overnight, the owner, who believes the animals were poisoned, complained on Sunday afternoon, Agerpres reported.
The barn is located in Galsha, Shiria commune, and the dogs were found dead on Sunday.
“Shiriya police were alerted to the presence of six Kangal dogs that died near a barn on the outskirts of Galsh. The same person reported the disappearance last night of two more dogs of the same breed that he owns. The bodies of six dogs were taken to the Arad Veterinary and Sanitary Directorate for an autopsy and to determine the cause of death,” the Arad District Police Inspectorate reported.
Police officers of the Bureau of Animal Protection continue the investigation in the criminal proceedings under the article “deliberate, illegal killing of animals”.
The owner claims that he specially trained the dogs to protect his flock of 1,300 sheep from jackals and wolves. He also said that two years ago he lost four dogs that were allegedly poisoned, but did not identify any suspect to the police.
