Downtrend in concentration viral load SARS-CoV-2 in the urban waste of Thessaloniki is observed in the most recent measurements for a study conducted by the AUTH Wastewater Epidemiology Group in collaboration with EYATH in collaboration with the Central Macedonia Region and within the National EDDI Network.
The weekly average viral load (Thursday to Wednesday) showed a slight decrease of 27%, while according to the AUTH Wastewater Epidemiology Group, its values have been decreasing since November 9, although there are fluctuations associated with fluctuations in the quality of wastewater.
In particular, in samples taken daily at the entrance to the Thessaloniki wastewater treatment plant, taking into account the rationalized secretion values of the relative viral load, the average value of the two most recent measurements, i.e. Tuesday, 11/15/2022 and Wednesday, 11/16/2022 2022:
– Slightly reduced (-11%) from the average of the two immediately preceding measurements on Sunday, November 13, 2022 and Monday, November 14, 2022.
– Reduced by 40% compared to the average price of the previous Tuesday 08/11/2022 and Wednesday 09/11/2022.
The methodology for assessing coronavirus in urban waste, developed by the AUTH team, rationalizes virus genome concentration measurements based on 24 environmental factors that can change measurement results.
