Ilie Nestase reacted wildly to a Digi24 journalist who contacted him to ask his point of view after the former tennis player was caught drunk driving.

Nestase (76 years old) was caught driving under the influence of alcohol and was left without a driver’s license, according to the capital police. This is not the first such offense: in 2018, he was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, then being aggressive with the agents who stopped him,

Now he has made another slip by berating a Digi24 journalist who asked him for his point of view.

The last part of Nestase’s phone conversation with journalist Magda Kostake:

“- Do you know that you are strictly forbidden to get behind the wheel if you have consumed alcoholic beverages?

– Not at all? Why can you drink two beers in civilized countries? Why don’t we copy them there too?

– This is our legislation.

– This is bad legislation, madam. Tell me a Romanian who won’t drink a beer or two and get behind the wheel. Tell me one that I don’t really know. All my friends…

– Does that mean all your friends drink and drive? Is that what you’re telling me?

“Lady, you are too young and too stupid to understand.” If I answered you, then you are an idiot. It’s good? Civilized countries are allowed. If you live in this communist country, you are a communist. Come on! Go to hell, fool!”
