Advertising is not for everyone, but still about us

Night. Returning home after a working day. First I wash my hands, then we take the remote control, we press a random button to turn on the TV. The channel shows an advertising sketch. The hall is full, and the stand-up comedian takes the stage. The TV has a problem. Even though it is not set to mute, no sound is played.

The comedian does not speak throughout the commercial. The tension builds up, it reaches the limit. Until it is completed, it does not occur that the advertisement has an alternative language of communication based on meanings, and that viewers of the television theater use it to express the joy and euphoria caused by the comedian’s incomprehensible jokes to the listener. .

What is it really like to live in a world that doesn’t speak your language? Without a single word, recorded from the mouth of a comedian or even heard from the mouth of a speaker, the new PPC campaign puts this question to listeners and those who do not speak sign language, and puts them in the shoes of their daily struggles with services.

The integration of people with hearing impairments into various services and everyday activities that involve interaction is far from easy, as deaf people are marginalized and often subjected to inappropriate behaviour. The energy of PPC makes their daily life easier with the new reality brought by “Service for everyone”.

Thanks to the new PPC service, people with hearing impairments can make an appointment at serviceforall.dei.gr and communicate on any issue they wish to resolve via a three-way video call with an interpreter present and the ability to display subtitles.

Now with “Service for All” simple and everyday tasks, for example, consultation with the service, are solved easily and quickly.

PPC creates all the necessary actions for the future with inclusion and equal access to service and communication.

* Panos Katsis, an actor and comedian from the Theater of the Deaf in Greece, took part in the action, and the audience of the show was exclusively people from the deaf community.
