Ohio authorities are on high alert after tens of thousands of mink escaped during a heist at an Ohio farm. “It was like the beginning of a Syfy horror movie,” wrote the New York Post.

Up to 40,000 fur-farmed minks managed to escape from their cages after a nighttime robbery at a farm in Hoaglin, Ohio, according to police.

Farm workers managed to return some of the minks that remained in or near the yard, but about 10,000 animals escaped.

Many of the escaped animals were killed shortly after they were found, while others died crossing a nearby road, authorities said.

The sheriff’s office warned people on Facebook not to approach the animals or try to catch them “because they may bite.” Minks can also pose a danger to pets.

It is not yet known who broke into the farm. It is true that the authors wrote on the wall “we will be back.”
