The head of the border committee of Belarus complained on Wednesday morning about the “hostile actions” of Ukraine, which allegedly blew up bridges and mined the border zone.

“They mined the border zone, blew up almost all the bridges in the Gomel and Mazyr regions. Now they are destroying all the bridges in the Volyn region. All roads are impassable,” said Anatoly Lappo, TASS reports.

By the way, Ukraine announced and released an image of what looks like a concrete fence with barbed wire to strengthen the border with Belarus.

The Belarusian military, which is allied with Moscow, said it shot down a Ukrainian reconnaissance drone on Wednesday on the border between the two countries, where tensions remain high after Russia invaded Ukraine in late February, partly from Belarus, AFP reported.

“A ditch, an embankment, a concrete fence reinforced with barbed wire are engineering barriers that are being built in Volyn. Thus, approximately 3 km of the border has already been arranged, work is ongoing. This is not all, but we will not reveal the details. Work is also underway in the Rivne and Zhytomyr regions,” Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko said on November 11.

Belarus has almost 900 km of border with Ukraine. In late February, the Russian army crossed the border into Belarusian territory to try to capture Kyiv, before finally retreating weeks later in the face of Ukrainian resistance.

Since then, Ukraine is still afraid of a new Russian offensive from Belarus.

For its part, Minsk accuses the Ukrainian military of plotting a coup against Belarus and created a joint regional military force with Russia in mid-October, raising fears of that country’s direct involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.
