Gloria’s effect was recorded by the Romsilva engineer in the Rodney Mountains National Park, the second largest national park in the country, with an area of more than 47,000 hectares, located in the northern part of the country, in the counties of Maramures and Bistrica-Neseud.

Gloria’s effect is also called “Mountain Ghost” or “Broken Ghost”. Under favorable conditions, the observer’s shadow is projected onto the fog. Tiny water droplets reflect sunlight, creating a colorful halo around the shadow.

Rare conditions refer to the refraction and dispersion of light when the sun behind the observer casts its shadow on a cloud or fog below its position, and this cloud consists of water droplets with diameters in a well-defined interval.
