A teacher from a school in Zimnytsia, who is also a district councillor, has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing two 13- and 15-year-old girls.

According to the decision published on the court’s portal, the panel of the Zimnitsky Court accepted the proposal for preventive arrest formulated by the prosecutor’s office of the Zimnitsky Court, ordering the preventive arrest of Kornel Bleai for 30 days, writes News.ro. The decision is not final.

Cornel Bleya is a physics teacher and district councilor at Teleorman District Council, and was a former vice-president of that institution.

The case against him was initiated after local journalists investigatoria.ro wrote about Cornel Bleyai on November 4 that he was accused by two female students of indecent touching of them. The children would be 13 and 15 years old respectively.

According to the source cited, Bleaya would resign following the allegations against him, claiming it was a “parental kiss,” according to statements made in local media by the principal of the school where Bleaya was a teacher.

• “There are some suspicions of inappropriate behavior, he says that it was a parental kiss, but the child felt something else.
