SaliStick, developed by Israeli startup Salignostics, is the world’s first rapid saliva pregnancy test.

The new test will arrive in pharmacies in Europe, South Africa and Israel in the first quarter of 2023.

“The product is very simple, easy to use and provides accurate results in just a few minutes,” said Salignostics.

It is said to be the only test in the world to detect early pregnancy at home using saliva instead of urine as is the case with traditional tests. The new test achieves this by detecting the pregnancy hormone in saliva.

According to the manufacturer, the test can be used from the first day of the menstrual cycle delay.

According to preliminary data, the test has a sensitivity of 95% and a specificity of 97%. Sensitivity shows how well the test detects pregnancy. Specificity refers to how many non-pregnant women are recognized as such by the test.
