The Ministry of Health’s political leadership has outlined conditions it is working on for private physicians to participate in the new PPH system, ISA said in a statement. As he clarified, the main condition is the guarantee of free access to a personal doctor for all citizens. According to the proposal put forward by the Minister of Health, Mr. Plevris, a mixed system will be created whereby a private doctor will be able to contract with a small number of patients (minimum 857) and at the same time he will have the right to register other patients privately, without restrictions, at the same time, he himself will determine the scope of remuneration. He also clarified that this is not about compensation and discounts in the fees of personal doctors, and that there will be no restrictions on prescriptions.

“We find it particularly positive that our proposal for the participation of private doctors has been accepted. The formation of a new system is a dynamic process in which ISA makes a significant contribution to the benefit of the patient and the medical world. Our goal is to make the system attractive to the doctor, to support it, and the citizen to be free to choose the doctor he trusts. That is, the system is reliable for a citizen and worthy for a doctor. Of course, a necessary condition is to provide the required resources that will make the system sustainable.”

The Minister of Health’s proposals will be brought to the attention of the new ISA Board of Directors, which will be formed tomorrow.
