The Institute for the Study of War “specifically” stressed that it receives no information from Yevgeny Prigozhin’s deceased mother-in-law, a reaction in ISW’s latest assessment following a publication in which the financier of Wagner’s mercenary group suggested that (ironically) in a post on his account in Telegram.

Prigozhin appears to have been troubled by the fact that the Institute for the Study of War said he had run into Vladimir Putin and the “siloviks” (people close to power in Russia).

In a post on Telegram, Prigozhy, who is a very influential voice in the Russian information space, says that “the media is actively discussing the latest study by the American Institute for the Study of War, based on data from American intelligence services. .”

“I am not in conflict with the security forces,” he insists.

“I am very surprised that the American special services and mass media know more about me than I do myself. It seems that they have a direct connection with my mother-in-law,” the leader of the “Wagnera” group said in the post, but notes that “Yevgen Viktorovych (Pryhogin) communicated very little with his mother-in-law.” She died on September 1 of this year.”

Here’s what the Institute for the Study of War said in an assessment released Wednesday night:

“Wagner Group financier Yevgeny Prigozhin on Wednesday denied ISW’s report that Prigozhin criticized Putin and other factions of the Kremlin’s security forces over the development of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Prigozhin flatly rejected ISW’s assessment on Tuesday and falsely claimed that ISW was receiving classified information. ISW does not obtain classified material from any sources, uses only publicly available information, and relies heavily on Russian, Ukrainian, and Western articles and social media, as well as commercially available satellite imagery and other geospatial data, as the basis for these reports. In particular, ISW does not receive information from Prigozhin’s deceased mother-in-law, as he (ironically) suggested.”

ISW states in an assessment on Tuesday night that Prigozhin was troubled:

“Russian security forces directly criticized Putin for the course of the Russian war in Ukraine, further emphasizing their importance in the Russian power structures. The Washington Post, with reference to US special services, reported that Wagner Group financier Yevgeny Prigozhin sharply criticized the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) in a private conversation. Prigozhin allegedly accused the Russian Ministry of Defense of relying heavily on Wagner’s forces but not funding his group or providing the necessary resources, consistent with his numerous public statements. Prigozhin denied any criticism of the Russian military in response to a report by The Washington Post – a denial that is patently false, given his repeated public attacks on the MoD.”
