But we need additional volumes, which are much more expensive in the market than we have had so far. We urge you to continue to save, to reduce consumption,” urged the head of the executive power of Moldova, quoted by the local publication NewsMaker.md.
For his part, Andriy Spinu, also the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, said that the risk of massive power outages still exists.
“It can be seen that the measures taken since last week, and especially since Monday, are yielding results. There is a slow decrease in consumption, especially during peak hours, but as you can see, it is not enough. We still have the 7% deficit,” he said.

As a result, the Republic of Moldova has increased the volume of purchases of emergency products from Romania, NewsMaker.md notes, indicating that prices for imported energy range from 190 euros to 348 euros per MWh, considering that the Kuchurgan TPP costs 66 euros. for one MWh, according to the cited source. In this way, the authorities of Moldova once again called on the population to save.
Kishinev announced on Wednesday that he wants to discuss the issue of resolving the energy crisis with representatives of Tiraspol. The Moldovan government’s reintegration policy office noted that representatives of mediators and observers in the format of the “5+2” negotiations on the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict (the Republic of Moldova, Transnistria, Russia, Ukraine, OSCE plus the United States and the EU) are also invited to the meeting as observers).
