The first convoy consisted of light armored infantry, and the second – heavy armored infantry, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on its Facebook page.

According to the cited source, the two convoys were met by French Colonel Alexandre de Feligond of the NATO Battle Group together with Colonel Tiberiu Cojocaru of the Multinational Command of the Southeast Division.

The convoys are designed to supplement the technical means of the NATO Advanced Battle Group (BGFP) stationed in Chinka.

The logistical operation to deploy equipment from the Murmelon-le-Grande base in France to Cinque on wheels over a distance of more than 2,000 kilometers began on October 18 and is called Operation Balaur, inspired by a mythological character from the Romanian legends, the MApN show.

The NATO Battlegroup Romania (BGFP) was established in May by transforming allied multinational elements into the NATO Response Force deployed in our country.

Following France’s proposal to take on the role of a framework nation, a French battalion deployed in Romania, which is considered the main focus of NATO’s Very High Response Force (VJTF), forms the BGFP on national territory, integrating on a rotational basis those effective in Belgium and the Netherlands, the quoted source said.
