Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi on Friday accused Russia of “deliberately” delaying the passage of ships loaded with Ukrainian grain, which is a vital source for many countries in Africa and Asia, AFP reports.

“More than 150 vessels are waiting in line to fulfill contractual obligations for the supply of agricultural products. This is an artificial queue created only because Russia is deliberately delaying the passage of ships!” Zelenskyy said in the video.

China, Egypt, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iraq, Lebanon and the Maghreb countries are among the countries affected by the delays, which affect “about three million tons of food,” he said.

In July, Russia and Ukraine agreed to resume exports of Ukrainian grain, which had been suspended since the start of the war, following a deal sponsored by the UN and Turkey.

Russia later criticized the deal, saying the sanctions had affected its own exports.
