A march against the high cost of living and climate inaction, organized by the left-wing Nupes alliance, gathered “30,000 people” in Paris on Sunday, AFP reported, citing a police source.
Shortly before that, the organizers announced that “140 thousand” people took part in the march.
The same police source said that several attempts to damage advertising signs (Afflelou, McDonald’s) or some banking units (BNP) were “prevented by police intervention”.
Several businesses were damaged on the highway. Shop windows were smashed, and windows were broken in others. In addition, the Société Générale agency suffered from vandalism, reports BFMT.com.
The police used tear gas.
This Sunday, 2,000 policemen and gendarmes have been mobilized for the march.
