The prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case on the fact of rape, allegedly committed in 2010, against director Kostas Kostopoulos after investigating a lawsuit filed against him by the actress.
Last summer, the director was summoned to the prosecutor’s office for an explanation and denied what the actress attributed to him, and he himself sued her.
The lawyer of the accused director Nikos Vitoros said in his statement: “Kostas Kostopoulos from the first moment appeared at the prosecutor’s office of the first instance and with his statement asked for a speedy investigation of the lawsuit filed against him. At the same time, he sued the plaintiff for false accusation and defamation. Already prominent theatre, television and cultural figures who had worked with Mr. Kostopoulos were quick to testify on his behalf.
Conducting another interrogation will reveal all the lies, gaps and insurmountable contradictions, as already indicated by the relevant decision of the prosecutor, to which the plaintiff did not answer the questions. It goes without saying that, for our part, we will not disclose any evidence in the case. We will continue to respect this process by separating the actual administration of justice from its exploitation through opportunistic advertising.”
The actress complains that the director raped her in his car in early 2010 when, after they went out to dinner, he suggested that they continue the evening at a club where they were mutual acquaintances. According to the plaintiff, the defendant drove the car to a secluded place.
