“Today’s missile attacks on electric and thermal substations forced Ukraine to stop exporting electricity from October 11, 2022, in order to stabilize its own energy system,” reads the message on the website of the Ministry or.

“Russia continues to carry out energy terror against Ukraine and increases energy pressure on the European Union,” the Ministry of Finance said in a statement on its Facebook page.

On Monday, Russia launched its biggest missile strikes on Ukraine since the conflict began, with cruise missiles hitting several cities, knocking out power systems, in response to Saturday’s explosion on the Kerch bridge.

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko said that the attacks on the power system were “the biggest in the entire war.”

He said on a television show that the missile strikes “throughout the supply chain (were done) to make the supply as difficult as possible.”

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that his country is “dealing with terrorists” and accused Russia of missile attacks on energy and civilian facilities. “They deliberately chose such a moment, such goals, in order to cause as much damage as possible,” the Ukrainian leader said.

In the morning, Prime Minister Denis Shigal said that Russian attacks damaged 11 infrastructure facilities.

“As of 11:00 a.m. (08:00 GMT), 11 major infrastructure facilities in eight oblasts and the city of Kyiv have been damaged,” Denis Smigal said in the Telegram messenger.

“Now some areas are inaccessible. It is necessary to be prepared for temporary interruptions with light, water supply and communication.”

In June, Ukraine’s Energy Ministry said it hoped to earn 1.5 billion euros by the end of the year from electricity exports to the EU, the main market for energy exports since the war.

On February 24, Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine. She has repeatedly denied attacks on civilian targets.
