Bulgarian counterintelligence has launched an investigation after Russia said the truck that caused the explosion on the Kerch Bridge, which connects the Crimean peninsula to its territory, allegedly left Bulgaria, a member state of the European Union, EFE reported on Monday, according to Agerpres .
“The investigation was started immediately after the appearance of this information and by the order of acting Prime Minister Galab Donev,” the State Agency for National Security, which is responsible for counterintelligence, reported.
The explosion, which partially destroyed the bridge, was described by Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “terrorist act” to justify dozens of missile strikes on Ukrainian cities on Monday.
“If I were in the place of the Russian services, I would be more interested in where the truck was loaded (with explosives) and what caused the explosion. It is important. It is impossible for this (explosive) to be loaded in Bulgaria,” said Boyko Borisov, the winner of the parliamentary elections on October 2.
At the beginning of October, Bulgaria held parliamentary elections for the fourth time in less than two years, where the position on the war in Ukraine is one of the elements that complicates the formation of a new government.
Borissov, a conservative politician with a populist bent, invited the seven parties that entered parliament to negotiate a deal on a new government, whose most important issues he said would be the fight against inflation, the war in Ukraine and opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the president of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Oleksandr Bastrykin, before approaching the bridge, the truck had to leave Bulgaria and pass through Georgia, Armenia, North Ossetia, Krasnodar Territory (the last two are the territories of the Russian Federation). .
Where did the explosion actually occur? On the bridge, under the bridge, on the water?
On Saturday morning, a powerful explosion rang out on the Kerch bridge – as it is also called Vladimir Putin’s bridge, built on the move after the annexation of Crimea in 2014. The moment of the explosion on the Kerch bridge was recorded by video surveillance cameras, which was reported by the Russian services. a mined truck that could be detonated, although some elements cast doubt on the Russians’ assumptions.
Footage captured by video cameras on the bridge actually shows the truck driving along the roadway of the bridge, exactly where the explosion occurred a moment later.
Footage along the bridge shows the exact moment of the explosion, but on closer inspection it appears that the “center” of the explosion is to the right of the bridge, somewhere on/over the water, not in the center of the roadway. where was the truck
Another shot, showing part of the bridge’s piers, shows a truck passing by and an explosion, but at the same moment as the flash, some unnatural waves can be seen right under the bridge. Some netizens suggested that there might have been a trap boat that detonated as soon as it got under the bridge.
We will remind you that the Russians recently found an unmanned kamikaze boat on the beaches of Crimea, which probably belonged to Ukrainians.
According to Nexta, the security filters at the entrance to the Kerch Bridge are among the most advanced with capabilities including detection of explosive materials. How could the trap truck get past these filters?
