“There is no doubt. This is a terrorist attack aimed at destroying critical civilian infrastructure,” Putin said, according to a video posted on the Kremlin’s Telegram channel.

“It was designed, developed and ordered by the Ukrainian special services,” Putin added.

This was announced during a meeting on Sunday with the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Oleksandr Bastrykin, who presented Putin with the results of the investigation into the explosion and fire on the bridge in Crimea.

These are also the first statements of the head of the Kremlin regarding the incident at dawn on Saturday, when a powerful explosion accompanied by a fire damaged the Kerch Bridge in Crimea.

The theme of the weekend is the attack on Vladimir Putin’s bridge – the explosion on the Kerch bridge

  • On Saturday morning, a powerful explosion rang out on the Kerch bridge – as it is also called Vladimir Putin’s bridge, built in a hurry after the annexation of Crimea in 2014. The moment of the explosion on the Kerch bridge was recorded by video surveillance cameras, which was reported by the Russian services. a mined truck that could be detonated, although some elements cast doubt on the Russians’ assumptions. It should be noted that the Russians have repeatedly said that the bridge cannot be hit – here I have centralized 20 reasons given by the Russians that the bridge is resistant to any attack.
  • At least three sections of the bridge collapsed into the water, but only on one of the two carriageways. A train with tanks, which was passing at the time of the explosion, caught fire on the railway bridge and got stuck on the tracks.
  • On Saturday evening, traffic was restored, but with strict restrictions: only one of the four traffic lanes remained usable. Railway traffic is still in standby mode.
  • Russia’s revenge for the explosion on the Kerch Bridge took place on Sunday at dawn: dozens were killed and wounded in the city of Zaporizhzhia after 12 rocket attacks on residential areas. The number of dead is not yet final.
  • Russian President Vladimir Putin called a meeting of the Security Council on Monday, which brought together key ministers, political leaders, representatives of the special services and the military.
  • What do ordinary Russians write in Telegram after the explosion on the Kerch bridge? Between commentators who believe it was a “Russian strategy” and revengers who write that “the (nuclear) button will be pressed”
