
A fatal mistake by criminals seems to have led to a fiasco an attempted robbery that took place on Wednesday morningin a mobile phone shop on Monastiriou Street, in Vardari, Thessaloniki.
An initial police investigation revealed that the four perpetrators, while attempting to destroy a CCTV camera that was recording movements in the store, caused a power failure, causing the security rolls to fall and block them inside the store.
They had previously broken into the store with an air gun and knives, and a Pakistani employee who was at the time was tied up with a punctured tire. In order not to arouse the officer’s suspicions, they pretended to be policemen dressed in body armor with police insignia.
Realizing that something strange was going on, a nearby business owner notified the Ambulance and a strong EL.AS force rushed into the area. who surrounded the store, arresting the criminals.
These are three Greeks (Roma) and one Albanian (three 22-year-olds and one 18-year-old), who, in addition to weapons and body armor, were also found to have a glock and a radio device.
They were prosecuted for, among other things, attempted robbery, disobeying authorities, causing bodily harm, and violating the Gun Act. The detainees were taken to the prosecutor’s office to open a criminal case.
