A series of works depicting her well-known motifs. Sofia Lamnatos, beauty and distant charm of a beloved four-legged cat. The artist presents her paintings at a new exhibition “Sonata for cats”, which will open on October 10 in the multifunctional hall Amalias 36.

The sly look of a garden cat, gentle purring under the midday summer sun, shelter in the foliage, a cozy touch on sofa cushions are captured by the gentle look of the artist, conveying the restless spirit, independent character and emotional world of these animals.

As the artist herself says: “I was lucky to be born in a large garden. In Athens. All around me are animals. My parents taught me to love them. Especially cats. I grew up with them. Always my companion. They always comforted me with their purring. They accompanied me in my sleep, made me laugh with their toys. They gave me moments of endless peace. They taught me to see the colors of their souls. I owe them this report.”

In addition to 28 cat works, the exhibition also features selected works from the Pisces collection, as well as two new works from the Five Minutes from Omonia exhibition.

Sofia Lamnatos

Sophia Lamnatos studied at the Vakalos School as a set designer and costume designer. During her long creative career, she has worked in painting, printmaking, textile design (printing) and set design. He has presented numerous works at home and abroad in individual and group exhibitions. Her work is characterized by colorful schematic patterns and themes that fit her experiences and memories, whether it be the Cyclades, her place of origin, or the cityscape of Athens where she grew up.
