Nissan is kicking off the next chapter in its electrified lineup with the European premiere of the all-new fourth-generation X-Trail. The centerpiece of its appeal over the previous three generations has been its distinctive styling, which creates a reassuring sense of solidity without being aggressive.
The new X-Trail is the second Nissan model to feature the innovative e-POWER drive system, a unique approach to electrification that delivers an electric driving experience without the need for plug-in charging. The e-POWER system of the new X-Trail consists of a high-performance battery and transmission united with a 1.5-litre variable compression gasoline engine, electric generator, inverter and a 150 kW front electric motor. This unique transmission means that power is delivered to the wheels from just one electric motor, resulting in instant, linear throttle response, and system power output reaches 213 hp. in the e-4ORCE version.
Since 70% of driving time is likely to be spent in commuter areas, Nissan has developed a pedal called the e-Pedal Step. Designed to alleviate the repetitive stress of urban driving where the driver frequently moves their foot between the accelerator pedal and the brake, the e-Pedal Step system allows drivers to accelerate and brake using only the accelerator pedal.

In addition to the e-POWER version, the X-Trail will also be available with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 163 hp. and 300 Nm of torque.
The interior is dominated by new high-quality materials that offer contemporary design and practicality in every aspect. To make it easier to load things, install a child seat or get comfortable in the car, access to the second row seats is now even easier, thanks to the rear passenger doors that open almost 90 degrees. The second row of seats splits 60:40 and a central hatch makes it easy to transport items such as ski boots without dropping any part of the second row of seats. The second row of seats can also be moved forward to maximize boot space and make it easier to access the third row of seats (in 7-seater configuration).
When the two rear seats are not in use, the luggage space makes the X-Trail one of the best in its class with a total volume of 585 liters.
The larger, higher resolution 12.3-inch Nissan Connect screen is a digital gateway to navigation, entertainment and vehicle settings and is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the latter offering wireless connectivity.
Prices for the new Nissan X-Trail start at €38,590 (hybrid version 1.5L 163hp, N-Connecta trim).
