Russia’s foreign ministry announced on Monday that it had summoned Canada’s ambassador to Moscow to convey its protest over the attacks on the Russian embassy in Ottawa, Reuters reported.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, an unknown person threw a Molotov cocktail on the territory of the Russian embassy in the capital of Canada.

The Russian ministry also notes that “aggressive” demonstrators blocked the entrance to the consular department of the embassy.

A representative of the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs responded that violence and vandalism were unacceptable and that the relevant authorities would look into the situation.
