The gross financing requirement for 2022 increased to 148.6 billion lei (+3.2 billion lei) after the government decided to increase the budget deficit (in nominal terms) through the recent budget adjustment, according to data from the Ministry of Finance.

“The need for gross financing at the government level for 2022 is revised to the amount of approximately 148.6 billion lei, determined by the forecast level of the budget deficit of 5.8% of GDP (approximately 80.1 billion lei), as a result of the budget adjustment approved by the government order no. 19/2022 regarding clarification of the state budget for 2022, as well as the amount of debt to be refinanced in 2022, in the amount of approximately 68.5 billion lei,” the institution’s document says.

According to some quoted sources, the additional net financing as a result of the budget adjustment (budget deficit) will come from domestic sources.

We remind you that the first budget correction of 2022 increases the budget deficit by almost 3.2 billion lei, to 80.1 billion lei, according to the Decree published in the Official Gazette.
