President Volodymyr Zelenskyi met with the head of the Turkish defense company Baykar on Friday and said that the company will build a factory for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine, Reuters reports.
Baykar’s Bayraktar TB2 drone is extremely popular in Ukraine, where it has helped destroy many Russian artillery systems and armored vehicles.
“We discussed the details of the construction of the Baykar plant in Ukraine and the production of new goods using Ukrainian components,” Zelenskyy said after a meeting with Baykar CEO Khaluk Bayraktar in Kyiv.
In the video published on the network, you can see how Zelensky presents Bayraktar with the Order “For Merit to Ukraine”.
In exchange, Zelenskyi received a traditional Ukrainian shirt with drone embroidery.
Russia has complained several times to Turkey about the sale of drones to Ukraine.
