“Call me by your name”: is there a sequel to the Oscar-winning film?

OUR Luca Guantanino confirms the fact that the creation of a sequel to the popular film “call me by your name(“Call me by your name”) is still in his plans.

The Oscar-winning film, released in 2017, tells the story of a complex love story between two men set against the backdrop of a beautiful Italian village and hot summer sun. OUR Armie Hammer plays American guest Oliver, and Timothée Salame plays the son of Oliver’s host family, Elio. So what could be the sequel after the ending of the first movie?

In an interview during the Telluride Film Festival, the Italian director, whose new film Bones and All That was recently screened at the 79th Venice International Film Festival, said that “the sequel is more about Elio’s transformation from a boy to a man. This is what I want to do.”

From the looks of it, Timothée Salame will play Elio again in a new coming-of-age story, but without Armie Hammer. However, shortly before the pandemic, the director hired a screenwriter and promised to reunite the original cast. Now, if there’s a chance a second film is made, we won’t see Oliver.

As for Salameh, who is also featured in “Bones And All”, Guantanino says: “That’s not to say that I left Timote at the height of his success and then found him again four years later. We kept in touch. I knew it wouldn’t be long before we could work together again, but only if it was the right project. I was very proud of the modesty and endurance that he had on his first steps to fame – the fact that this bright and passionate young man became a star.
