  • “Hungary supports Romania’s accession to the Schengen zone, and Romania can count on Hungary’s support in this regard,” Katalin Novak said.

The Netherlands is the last country that opposes Romania’s accession to the Schengen zone.

Interior Minister Lucian Bode said recently.

The European Council, which includes the leaders of the 27 member states of the European Union, must make a decision on Romania’s accession to Schengen.

The Schengen area includes 26 countries, four of which are not part of the European Union: Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
