
On Tuesday morning, police carried out 17 searches in Bucharest and the counties of Dambovitsa, Ilfov and Olt on people suspected of being involved in a tax evasion group hiding some of the income from virtual currency transactions. Damages are estimated at 3.5 million hryvnias.
“This morning, September 6, police officers from the Dambovitsa County Police Inspectorate are executing 17 search warrants, including 6 in Dambovitsa County, 9 in Bucharest, one in Ilfov County and one in Olt County. Also, 19 arrest warrants will be executed, and the identified persons will be taken to the police department for examination. Under the coordination of the prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office at the Dambovytskyi court, criminal and investigative measures are carried out on the fact of committing crimes of tax evasion and organized criminal group, facts provided for in Art. 9 of Law No. 241/2005 on prevention and fight against tax evasion and Art. 367 of the Criminal Code,” Romanian police said, news.ro reports
19 people are suspected of having created or joined a criminal group in 2019-2022 for the purpose of tax evasion by concealing the source of taxation – income received from operations with virtual currencies.
The amount of damages is 3,501,974 lei.
Soldiers of the Dâmboviţa Special Action Service, police officers from the Bucharest Municipality Police Headquarters and the Olt County Police Inspectorate are participating in the events.
