Daniil Medvedev was knocked out by Nick Kyrgios in the round of 16 at the US Open 2022. After the setback, the Russian found a surprising culprit: the air conditioning that gave him a headache.

Daniil Medvedev worried about air conditioning at the US Open after losing to Nick Kyrgios

Medvedev barely digested the defeat to the Australian. While he praised his performance, the ATP ranking leader said the result would have been different had he not been feeling so bad because of Arthur Ashe’s conditioning.

“He played well. The match was even until the 3rd set when I started to feel physically ill. I felt sick today. I get sick at least once a year on North American tours because of the air conditioning.

This is madness. Last year I did it in Cincinnati, now here. It was a match of a very high level. Nick has a different game, but I think he played at the level of Novak and Rafa today.

He had intensity, he ran for every point. If he continues to play like this, I think he has a good chance to win the title. I was really surprised he didn’t miss a lot of shots, I expected him to make more unforced errors.” – Daniil Medvedevreports Eurosport.
