
In the last 24 hours, 1,825 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 deaths were registered in Romania, which is 573 less than the previous day, the Ministry of Health reported on Saturday.
According to the cited source, 341 new cases in 24 hours were among reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection. In contrast to new confirmed cases, 135 people were confirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive.
In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 2,203, which is 136 less than the previous day. Also, 176 people were hospitalized in ATZ, which is 15 less than the previous day. Of the 176 patients admitted to the HTI, 150 are unvaccinated.
Out of the total number of hospitalized, 277 are minors, 275 are hospitalized in wards, which is 23 less than the previous day and 2 in the HMT, 3 less than the previous day.
To date, 66,766 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 have died in Romania. In the last day, 15 deaths were recorded – 7 men and 8 women.
Among the 15 fatal cases, 4 were registered in the age category of 60-69 years, 4 in the age category of 70-79 years, and 7 in the age category over 80 years. 14 deceased had concomitant pathology, 1 patient did not have concomitant pathology.
Of the 15 who died, 4 were vaccinated.
Over the last day, 2,803 OT-PCR tests were performed (1,859 – according to the diagnosis and medical protocol and 944 – according to the request) and 9,976 rapid antigen tests. To date, 13,435,062 RT-PCR tests and 11,274,806 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
