On Monday, meteorologists issued two new yellow code warnings – for heat in the south and east of the country and for torrential rains and storms in Banat, Krišana, Maramures, western Oltenia, most of Transylvania and northwestern Moldova.

A yellow heat wave warning will be in effect on Monday and Tuesday.

According to meteorologists, the heat will persist in the southern and eastern regions. It will be hot locally, thermal discomfort will be high, and the temperature and humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The maximum air temperature will range from 32 to 37 degrees.

High temperature discomfort will remain in the southeastern regions throughout Wednesday, August 31.

The rest of the country will be under a yellow code warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms from 12:00 Monday to 10:00 Tuesday.

During this time period, there will be periods of rain and thunderstorms in Banat, Krišani, Maramures, western Oltenia, most of Transylvania, northwestern Moldova, Western Carpathians, northern Eastern Carpathians and locally in the Southern Carpathians. There will be showers, electric discharges, increased wind, and sometimes squalls and hail. In short periods of time, water volumes will exceed 25…40 l/m2.

During the week, increased instability of the atmosphere will continue, forecasters predict.
