And maybe heroes like Gus Fring but also Walter White, which was at the center of the story to show their most inhuman and cruel side, but it was Skyler White and Walter’s wife, one of the characters that didn’t seem to always appeal to audiences as the series progressed.

Yes, 2013 actress Anna Gunn, who played Skyler White wrote an article in the New York Times titled “I have a character problem” referring to his role in Breaking Bad, writing, among other things: “Judging by the popularity of sites and Facebook pages dedicated to hating him, my character has become a point of contention for many people who have feelings for the strong, rebellious who are with them mistreated women.”

In an interview with “Entertainment Weekly” in 2018, Again, Gunn made no secret that all the backlash against Skyler’s character had her confused, explaining, “It was a combination of sexism, ideas about gender roles, and honestly, it was a great structure for the show. People saw Walt as a hero, and they also wanted to connect with him so much that they felt like the person who was his competitor – and therefore the show’s competitor, in a way – was getting in the way of what he wanted to do. … and he should be able to do whatever he wants.”

Creator of Breaking Bad (as well as Better Call Saul) Vince Gilligan, again, in a new interview with New Yorker did not fail to mention Breaking Bad and the character of Skyler: “When the show first aired, Skyler was obviously hated. I think this has always bothered Anna Gunn. And I can tell you that it always bothered me too, because Skyler, the character, did nothing to deserve it. And Anna certainly did not deserve this. She played her part very well.”

Looking at Breaking Bad from the sidelines, Gilligan said, “Looking back, there was a certain point of view on the show, the story was told entirely through Walt’s eyes, even in scenes where he wasn’t there. Even Gus, his nemesis, didn’t meet with the hostility Skyler received. Strange, I still think about it, after so many years.

Today, however, Gilligan said two things about Walter White: “After a few years, the spell breaks. I mean, wait a minute, why is this guy so cool? He really played and rode on canes. He had a “me” the size of California. And he always saw himself as a victim. He constantly complained about how they mocked him, about the fact that his extraordinary abilities were not recognized. If you take all this into account, you will end up saying, “Why did I support this guy?”
