Ukraine’s defense minister says his country is past the worst-case scenario of an invasion launched by Vladimir Putin in late February, CNN reports.

“We are in the stage of stabilizing all fronts on the battlefield with small movements of units, and we have created numerous deterrents” for the invasion forces, Reznikov said in an interview with American television.

He also noted that he believes that Ukraine is on the threshold of a “new stage” of the war, having launched a counteroffensive in a different direction.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine stated that the biggest threat to his country is the “fatigue syndrome” of the international community from the war in Ukraine.

Oleksiy Reznikov’s statements come in the context of a Reuters report that the United States is preparing to announce a new $3 billion package of military aid to Kyiv, the largest to date.

The US has given Ukraine a total of $10.6 billion in military aid since Vladimir Putin launched the war on February 24.
