Russian troops are planning a “show trial” of Azovstal defenders, which will take place in the Philharmonic building in occupied Mariupol on August 24, on Ukraine’s Independence Day, Ukrainian special services reported on Friday.
The Intelligence Service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine claims that Russia may bomb the philharmonic hall during the mock trial scheduled for August 24 and will try to shift the blame to Ukraine.
Ukrainian special services claim that iron cages are being installed on the stage of the Mariul Philharmonic, where the defenders of Azovstal will be held during the trial organized by the Russians.
The Russians would also have brought so-called witnesses and pro-Russian mass media to the impromptu trial if the bombing had not been carried out.
In May, hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers at Azovstal surrendered to pro-Russian forces, ending the longest and bloodiest battle in the Ukrainian war.
The defenders of Mariupol turned the tide of the war with Russia, holding out for 82 days.
