​For the last day, 4,854 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, which is 631 less than the previous day. Bucharest has the most cases with 746 new cases and an infection rate of 6.12 per thousand.

808 of the new cases in the last 24 hours were re-infected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the initial infection.

In contrast to newly confirmed cases, 220 people tested positive again after retesting patients who had already tested positive.

Fewer than 3,500 Romanians with COVID-19 have been hospitalized

In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized in the COVID-19 departments is 3,450, which is 92 less than the previous day.

279 people were hospitalized in the intensive care unit, which is 10 more than the previous day. Of the 279 patients admitted to the HTI, 243 are unvaccinated.

Of the total number of hospitalized patients, 445 are minors, 440 are in wards, which is 22 less than the previous day, and 5 are in intensive care, as in the previous day.

21 Romanians died from COVID in the last day. All of them had concomitant diseases

From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 66,462 people with a diagnosed SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 18/08/2022 (10:00) and 19/08/2022 (10:00) INSP reported 21 deaths (16 males and 5 females), of which 2 deaths were recorded before the control interval.

Out of 21 deaths, 1 was registered in the age category of 40-49 years, 3 in the age category of 60-69 years, 4 in the age category of 70-79 years, and 13 in the age category over 80 years.

All the deceased had concomitant diseases, 5 were vaccinated.

How many Romanians were checked?

Over the last day, 3,603 RT-PCR tests were performed (2,326 based on case definition and medical protocol and 1,277 on request) and 17,767 rapid antigen tests.

From the beginning of the pandemic to this date, 13,387,753 RT-PCR tests and 11,075,994 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
